And so Holly took another trip to cause herself pain, to be alone and sulk about a lost cause.
”What’s that?” Holly asked. She was ever full of curiosity while she was little. She was only six to be exact. By now her Father was dead and in the ground but Holly’s mother kept an old family tradition alive by taking Holly to the southern region on the first day of spring. Her mother was happy that Holly wasn’t plagued by unhappy memories and grabbed the girl before she could go crawling up the fence. “Those are the Solar Spears darling” They’d never gone so deep into the southern region. They were off course, Holly’s mom had always followed her husband’s lead but she had gotten off track this year since she was without him. It was something new and Holly was in awe. “They’re so pretty Mommy! What do they do?” For the afternoon Holly asked questions all about the Solar Spears and wandered around. It wasn’t the normal get away but It was still beautiful. Holly had tried several times to climb the fence but had been stopped each time by her mother. “Aw come on Mom!” Holly would whine after she had been playfully pinned to the ground after she had been ripped from the fence. Her Mom would tell her to not do it but she always tried one more time until the sun started to grow closer to the horizon and started to set. Holly’s mother dragged Holly back home after she had tried too many times to cross the fence.
Back in reality, Holly turned over in the grass surrounding the fenced in area of the Solar Spears. From over her shoulder she looked at the fence. ”I told her I’d cross the fence next time we came. You’d be disappointed in me if you were here.” Holly picked herself up from the warm grassy ground and looked to the fence. She had never forgotten the place and how bad she wanted to be on the other side. One problem, there was barbed wire exactly to keep intruders out. But Holly was forever a rebel.
Lost somewhere between her memories and reality, Holly made her way toward the fence and scaled the height. She blinked a few times at the barbed wire wondering how she would get past it. The idea to shift and fly over the fence hit her like a ton of bricks. Duh. Just like she had done for as long as she could remember, her bones shrank, feather covered her skin, her already thin and long legs turned into the familiar feet of a bird, her arms widened and flattened and turned into wonderful wings that would allow her to fly. It was the same thing every time she shifted, a warm rush overcame her and it was almost pleasurable. How lucky am I to be able to fly? She thought while flapping her wings and perching on the fence. Easily, she glided over the edge not even getting close to the wire. Once on the other side, she shifted back to human form. No matter how much she loved to fly, Holly preferred looking human.
Over the fence at last, Holly had only been wanting to cross it for eighteen years. Now, what surprises and secrets were on the other side?
ooc: Finally got myself to put up another thread. Kinda lazy and suckish but I'm just happy I have one up ^^; Someone join please!

“Hotpants! Down girl, down!”
Well, this was quite the site, if anybody had been around to see it, that is. A rather tall Asian man, 6’3 at the very least, was chasing something across the field. That thing just happened to be a pint-sized pig as white as freshly fallen snow. Also, apparently the pig’s name was Hotpants. Today was a nice day, so Reyes had decided to take his guard-pig, Hotpants, out for a walk. The thing needed to get out more often, but at some point, the pig would not stop shrieking and squealing at every single person who walked by—or came within 20 feet of them, for that matter—so he brought her out where nobody really frequented.
Well, not a lot of people came around the Solar Spears. They were beautiful things that towered high above the ground, collecting sun to produce energy. They had been around since Reyes was a hatchling, fresh from the egg, and thankfully the humans decided to keep them. Thankfully, they were smart enough to keep them. So out here there were very few humans, and today there were none in sight. Hotpants had also calmed down a decent amount and had stopped wailing for the time being, and he couldn’t help but he a little relieved. Yes, Reyes loved his guard-pig very dearly, but sometimes the squealing drove Aurelia insane. No, it didn’t drive him insane, but he felt sort of bad when Aurelia had to hide up on the couch with the white pig snapping at her ankles. Vicious little thing it was, but at least she kept thieves out.
So now that they were in the calm, Reyes unhooked the pig’s leash and let her wander around on her own. She never strayed very far from his ankles and seemed as happy as can be. Well, she did seem as happy as can be before she caught the scent of something or somebody or just about anything that set her alarm off. And that’s probably how it came to be; Reyes chasing a pig through a field down to the fence that surrounded the Solar Spears. But no matter how much he called after her, Hotpants was intent on catching whatever it was that dared to move within a mile of her master that she dutifully protected twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred and sixty five days a year.
By the time Reyes had caught up with the guard-pig—and nearly took a face first tumble down the hill to boot—she was shrieking and nearly climbing the chain-linked fence to get at something on the other side. He tried to gather her up in his arms, but she just kept kicking and screaming and flailing around and oh god this was getting really, really noisy. Reyes did glance up however, and caught sight of what Hotpants was making such a big fuss about. There was a girl on the other side of that fence, looking around curiously. She wasn’t supposed to be there though, and he had to wonder how she got to the other side over a chain link, barb-wired fence.
“Sorry!” He called out over the pig’s squealing. “Um, apologies for the pig! Hotpants gets really, really protective! Stop it girl, down!” He apologized to the girl before trying to hush the pig once again. He was holding her in his arms now, and damn it, a pig’s kick, even though it was minuscule, really did hurt. Reyes just had to hold on to her snout until she finally got the idea that no, he was not in danger and no, the girl on the other side of the fence was not going to stab him and no, he was not about to die from the mere sound of her voice.
When Hotpants finally, finally
[/i], finally calmed herself down enough to stop kicking him repeatedly in the chest with her tiny hooves, he set her down and snapped the leash back onto her collar as if she were a dog. A very angry, vicious, overly protective dog. “Hi there!” He waved to the girl on the other side of the fence. “I’m Reyes and this is Hotpants. I don’t think you’re supposed to be on that side of the fence.” He told her with a cheery smile and a spring to his step as he walked towards the chain link fence. [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Soft sun and a light breeze spread the mild scent of grassland all around Holly. A few stray curls blew past her face from their place on her head. Despite being depressed, Holly was very…relaxed for once. Her eyes closed while she enjoyed the hushed movement of the exquisite area surrounding her. The spears glimmered in the soft spring sun and Holly laid down, the wonderful surrounding bringing back memories of her past.
Holy’s face was squished against the fence and her fingers held the chain link fence in a death grip. She stared in awe at the solar spears, and in her kid head, they looked like a lot of fun to go climb on and get her little fingerprints all over. Holly wasn’t very good at shifting at the time and didn’t think of flying over the fence. Even if she had her mother would have turned into her falcon form and dragged the girl back before she could get in trouble. “Momma they’re so pretty!” Holly whined. She wanted to go look at the up close with all her heart. “Not today honey.” Her mom said while ruffing her bright orange hair. Holly’s mom had the matching curls and color, but was much well-kept than Holly’s was at her age. Her mom had pinkish eyes and her father had blue eyes, so Holly’s eyes were some odd mix of her parent’s genes. Holly laughed a little bit feeling her mother mess up her hair more than it already was.
”Mmm” Holly mumbled still in her memory. So pleasant, so very, very pleasant. When her life was simple, fun and her only concern was wanting to get over the fence so she could go play on the solar spears. A loud shrieking pulled Holly from her daze. She sat up slowly not wanting to get up from her half nap in the warm, dry, grass and sun. She looked back to see what else but a pig. Wait, a pig wasn’t supposed to be in the the middle of the southern region! It was trying to get around the fence, or scrambling. Holly was immediately worried about the pig. Was something wrong? Was it sick or running from someone? Or something? Holly put her guard up only to soon enough see a man come running after the pig. Odd, to say the least but at least the pig wasn’t in danger. The pig seemed to be the man’s pet or something like that.
”Sorry! Um, apologies for the pig! Hotpants gets really, really protective! Stop it girl, down!” Holly couldn’t help but laugh a little bit at the odd scene. A guard pig, that was something Holly hadn’t heard of before. Now if only the pig could shut the heck up. That squeal was loud enough for Helen Keller to hear. It was cute to Holly how the man handled the pig, taking kicks and holding the pig in his arms. When the pig stopped kicking and squealing he set her down and pulle don the leash af it the pig was a dog. Still strange but still cute. With a wave the man said, ”Hi there! I’m Reyes and this is Hotpants. I don’t think you’re supposed to be on that side of the fence.” The names were nothing less of unusual, but wasn’t the guy weird already?
”Holly, call me Holly.” The girl said waving back. And as far as being on the wrong side of the fence, ”Am I? She said sarcastically and laughed a little bit before saying, ”So what?” She laughed. Why be concerned? Not like there were police with handcuffs waiting for her. Holly approached the fence casually and leaned on it, waiting for Reyes to join her at the border. Well she had come to the solar spears to write in her memories, but the guy and the pig sure had put her in a good mood. Why don’t’cha come join me?” she asked jokingly while flashing a sweet smile.

Hotpants had settled down to some degree, but she was still agitated at the girl across the fence. The also didn’t seem to love the leash, but she knew she had to wear it with other people around. Yes, Reyes knew that the pig thought it was a very big, very vicious looking dog. In reality, Hotpants was a small white pig that looked oh-so-cute until she tried to bite your leg off. She had certainly tried to kill Aurelia in her sleep on multiple occasions, and the only thing that kept the woman alive at night was, sadly, the bedroom door. The two just didn’t seem to get along, and Hotpants wasn’t very eager to try and get along either.
The girl’s name was Holly. That was a nice name; Holly. Reyes had never met anybody named Holly before, and so he wondered sometimes what they were like. Briefly, he wondered if this girl was human or not, but she probably was. Nowadays, ninety-nine percent of the people one would meet on Cambria were human. Those that were shifters, that last one percent, were all hiding. Either hiding, or sitting out in the open with a very, very good disguise like Reyes.
”Why don’t’cha come join me?”
Holly was leaning up against the fence now and he could already hear the deep grumble in Hotpants’ throat that simply screamed at her to go away. He tugged at the leash a bit and she settled, but he knew it would only be for a little bit. Reyes looked up at the fence—about a head or two taller then him—and though he would’ve loved to join her, he had to wonder how he was supposed to get both himself and Hotpants over the barbed wire on top. How did Holly get over that, actually? She was smaller then him, sure, but wasn’t barbed wire supposed to be able to keep everybody out?
There was a pause that lasted about a minute as he tried to think about it. His head cocked slightly to the side as he stared up at the menacing looking wires all across the top. The man looked more like a kid at that point, and it painted quite the curious picture, what, with the mini-pig sitting at the heels of a man that was pushing 6’4 and all. Well, there didn’t used to be a fence around the Solar Spears; the humans probably put it up. But why? Those things were perfectly safe to touch; they just gathered energy and looked very pretty.
“How am I supposed to get over the fence?” He pointed up at the loops of sharp wire and metal that sprinkled the top. Yes, his brain finally comprehended, yes, that could be a problem. Ripping your fingers open and getting some horrible, infected cuts would be a problem too. Flying would quickly solve that problem for him, but not for Hotpants who would be stuck on this side of the fence. And also, Holly might or might not be a shifter, so he couldn’t just suddenly sprout wings and hop himself over. Throwing Hotpants over the fence might result in Holly having a bit less of a face. What to do, what to do?
“How did you get over there anyways?”

Well if there was one thing to get Holly’s mind off of being sad and reveling in her memories; a strange man with a loud pig was going to be it. And frankly, not only the fact that the pig seemed to be overprotective or hyperactive, but the duo had come to the solar spears as well. Not many ventured out all the way in the southern region to see the crystal like structures jutting out form the grasslands. Besides, they were behind barbed wire fences anyways and that was no fun. Reyes was not a name Holly had heard before; and thus could not trust him even if he had a pig that was cute as a button. Well, the pig would have been a heck of a lot cuter if it wasn’t deafening Holly at the moment. But there wasn’t much she could do about it, in fact it seemed like her presence had simply set the pig of. The majority of the population of Cambria was humans by now, and the shifters still left on the streets of Keis were sneaky or extremely lucky.
Really, Holly knew she was asking for it when she asked Reyes to come join her. Because, how else was she going to explain that she got over a huge fence with barbed wire on top totally unscathed? Though Reyes was tall, definitely past six foot, he was still about six inches smaller than her. Being a giant sometimes really sucked. She watched carefully as Reyes seemed to be contemplating how he could get over the fence, nonetheless, how Holly had and the girl let out a small chuckle at his predicament. Holly didn’t speak and simply watched as Reyes deliberated about how he could get over the fence.
While staring at Reyes in his curious pose, Holly thought about why the spears were fenced in. She figured that it was because someone, stupid would have thought to come and damage them. More likely a human than a shifter. Since of course, shifters had been there first and the spears had been there for them. It just wasn’t fair that it was fenced in. Then again, if a bunch of little kids like Holly when she was young came along, then the Solar Spears could start experiencing problems. Holly was thankful that one thing from her past hadn’t been destroyed by the humans. It was one place where she could go back and recollect old feelings.
When Reyes asked, ”How am I supposed to get over the fence? while he pointed to the spiky wire up top Holly had expected he’d ask the question. Too bad she couldn’t tell him the actual answer. That barbed wire was nasty and could rip someone to shreds if you weren’t careful or weren’t a shifter. “How did you get over there anyways?” Ah, nearly the same question but far more prying. Holly leaned on the fence letting her weight fall on the chain link. Holly’s gaze was locked somewhere between making eye contact with Reyes and totally avoiding his gaze. She tapped her chin lightly as if she was in deep through but was just acting silly. ”Hmm. Well I could have climbed over it. Otherwise the only other way is to fly across the fence.” She said subtly hinting that she was a shifter. Hopefully he would get it, because Holly’s diction clued him in. If he didn’t get it either he was a stupid shifter or an ignorant human. And if he was SEG, well, that was another story. She gave another smile but this time it wasn’t as full.

In an attempt to see if he could even reach the top, Reyes stretched himself up and found that he could touch the top wires of the barbed wire fence. Okay, maybe if he was careful enough he could climb this thing, but then what about Hotpants? She would definitely not be pleased with being left behind while Reyes waltzed off with a girl towards some shady, pointy towers. There was a moment where he wondered if he could toss Hotpants over, but she wouldn’t be too pleased with that. Actually, he could, but he hoped he could get over the fence before she tore Holly’s legs off.
When he asked his questions, Holly seemed to look a little off to his side. ”Hmm. Well I could have climbed over it. Otherwise the only other way is to fly across the fence.” She said after tapping her chin. The first thoughts to his mind were better described as three bolded exclamation marks. His expression lit up brighter then it usually was for a minute there; oh yes, he could do that. His first and second forms were avians, being the major mitchell’s cockatoo and the hoatzin. He really wanted to practice the hoatzin, but he could barely do that where somebody would see. It wasn’t exactly a common bird, after all.
But then he’d probably expose himself to a plethora of dangers, primarily if Holly was a human, worse of she was unsympathetic to shifters, and even worse if she was a SEG member. “Um… Okay, I’ll try to climb it.” A pause as he looked down at his pig. “But you have to catch Hotpants when I throw her over. She’ll be furious if I leave her on this side.” Man, he would love the day pigs could fly. Maybe nobody else would love Hotpants assaulting them from the sky now, but that would be fun to have her fly around.
He gathered the little white pig up in his arms and as gently as he could, he tried to tip Hotpants over the fence. It ended up being a toss rather then a tip and she was none too pleased by that. Her angry squeal as she went over the fence quickly told Reyes that he needed to get to the other side pretty fast. Landing with a light thud, Hotpants quickly got up and took her cue to launch herself at Holly’s feet as soon as she touched ground.
Hotpants’ angry shrieking and squealing almost completely drowned him out. She was instantly on Holly’s heels, nipping and biting and being a very, very angry guard-pig in general. “No! Down Hotpants, down! Heel!” Of course she didn’t listen; she didn’t even hesitate as she went after Holly with a vengeance. During that time, Reyes was trying vainly to scale the fence. Damn it, he didn’t remember climbing fences to be this hard!

While watching Reyes stretch up over the fence scaling the height Holly was really wondering what he was thinking of doing to be able to cross over the fence. Well, probably wasn’t a shifter if he hadn’t taken her words for what they were. Or of course, there was the variable that he could just be ignorant and not get it. Still, Holly was going to be taking no chances. Holy couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing about the pig, he could hold it, but that could set him off balance, or maybe he would leave the squealing thing on the other side but something told that wasn’t’ what the man had in mind.
Holly didn’t focus much on what Reyes was thinking; she wasn’t a mind reader and thus didn’t like to guess because she thought it was a waste of time. Whatever was on their mind was in their mind and not out in the open for a reason. Holly’s posture slumped a little bit while she thought about her own secrets she harbored. Yeah, there were definitely reasons people kept their thoughts to themselves.
Instead of going back to her usual stock of memories, the girl focused on the small things. A small butterfly with angular wings and a beautfil black and yellow patter lining its wings. She watched it fly from the tops of grass to the tops of the soar spears then finally fly out of sight. The spring sun was also something Holly noticed. Not blazing hot but also not obscured from view by dark clouds. Perfectly warm and shined on the grass just so slightly that the grass glowed like gold underneath the sun’s rays. The best thing about it was how it felt when it warmed her face. There was nothing like it. The breeze blowing the grass paired with the flawlessly adequate sun was like nothing else. Nothing you could find in any other season or even in the city. Why did all her sad memories have to be paired with so many other lovely things?
Still partially in her dreamlike state Reyes said, ”Um…Okay I’ll try to climb it.” Holly was completely torn from her dreamy state, because he was insane! “But you have to catch Hotpants when I throw her over. She’ll be furious if I leave her on this side.” the girl’s eye widened at him. He really was crazy! But sooner than Holly could realize it Reyes was throwing Hotpants over the fence. She tried to catch her but the pig but she fell right through her fingers. She landed on the ground harshly and Holly felt bad for the poor animal. For all of about two seconds. At the third second the pig was going after the girl’s feet trying to attack her. She picked up one of her feet avoiding a nip from its teeth but the pig was dedicated and went after her other heel. Holly hopped again but the pig was just as fast. Holly let out a high pitched squeal after the pig kept trying to get at her. Reyes yelled something while trying to cross the fence but the girl was far too distracted to know what he said. Holly finally got the idea to Jump on the fence and get out of the pig’s reach. Trying to avoid stepping on the white pig and at the same time evade its teeth Holly attempted to get on the fence. Her finger curled around the chain link fence first then her feet found a place high enough to get a hold and still be safe from Hotpants. Holly climbed a little higher so she was face o face with Reyes and furiously shouted in his face, ”Are you completely INSANE!”

Reyes was almost tempted to laugh. Almost. No, he wasn’t that cruel. Actually, he really wasn’t cruel at all; he was just sort of dense. People always said that the Japanese were supposed to be the smartest people in the world, but if you were looking to make an example, it wouldn’t be a great idea to point at Reyes. Though the man wasn’t dumb, he was a bit slow to understand and he couldn’t quite connect X to Y to Z fast enough to keep up with his actions. This probably explained why he threw the angry pig over the fence. Whoops.
Holly had clambered up the fence and was soon face to face with him. She had managed to get her feet into some of the holes high enough off the ground so that Hotpants couldn’t reach her, even if she jumped up and down. The little white pig was clearly furious at not being able to reach her quarry and was squealing from the grass, trying to climb the fence to get up to Holly. ”Are you completely INSANE!?”
Reyes flinched at her shrieking in his face. He would say that he wasn’t used to being yelled at, but then that would be a lie. Aurelia yelled at him all the time, but all he had to do was give her those big puppy eyes and she would stop. Aurelia told him that he was insane pretty often. And so did Aras and Ofelia and just about everybody else. Well, as of right now, they probably both looked pretty insane; what, with the pig and everything. “My friends ask me that a lot.” He told her before figuring that it was time to get over that fence now.
Though it was painfully slow progress compared to what he used to be able to do, and even slower compared to how fast he could simply shift and fly over, he finally managed to tumble over to the other side of the fence. He had carefully avoided the barbs on the wire and got to the other side with only a few minor scratches on his arms and one or two new holes in his shirt. Ah well, he would fix that anyways. Of all things, he was surprisingly good at knitting and sewing. He had made sweaters and cozies and all sorts of things for just about everybody he knew. Aurelia had a surprising cache of what most people would call ‘granny sweaters’ in her closet.
“Hotpants. Down.” He said in that type of voice that hinted at being serious. In all honestly, Reyes found it almost impossible to get that tone of voice you needed to scold or anything. But now that he was safely over the fence, Hotpants responded and heeled next to him, but still glared up at Holly as if she was some poisonous animal. The pig’s story was quite the long one, involving a farm, a piano and a little white dog that Reyes was supposed to get instead. It was a good thing he had left Rondine home, or else it would’ve been a whole different level of hell. “Sorry, Hotpants get really overzealous and… And…”
Reyes sort of trailed off there when he looked up at Holly. Looked up at Holly. There was a long pause there as he seemed to stare in awe. Okay, he had never really met a male taller then himself before, but Holly was a girl and she was, at the very least, five or six inches towering over him. For the first time in his life, Reyes felt very, very inadequate. But she was so tall and it was so amazing and about a million thoughts flooded his mind at once and damn it, his brain was never really meant to hold that capacity all at once. Reyes’ mother and father had both been short and average, respectively. So when he grew to such a towering height, he had to wonder if his parents were seriously his parents. Oh my gosh Holly, are you my mummy!? Stupid thought but hey, Reyes was all for that.
“You’re so tall!” He said in admiration, his bright smile returning once more.

...Because it totally made a whole lot of sense to throw an angry vicious over protective pig over a fence. All the sense in the world would not be able to explain this idiocy and why Holly was clinging for dear life on a fence because of a little white pig. A pig! Of all the things, perhaps a murderer or a grizzly bear but there was instead a small pig squealing at her with a temper hot enough to cause a forest fire. Holly’s fingers clenched around the chain link tightly, she didn’t care about how bad they hurt, only that there was a homicidal pig right below her wanting to gnaw her ankles off. Even if she did care about the pain, there was no way she was going to get off that fence until Reyes was over it and had control of that possessed pig. How could Holly have thought that thing cute when it was trying to kill her! Still furious, Reyes actually answered her rhetorical question, ”My friends ask me that a lot.” And if Holly could have smacked him, she really would have. So many things we not right with this man.
All too slowly he crossed the stupid barbed wire fence, he was lucky and had only gotten a few scratches from the barbed wire and not totally ripped to shreds. If Holly hadn’t shifter and flown over the fence she wouldn’t have even tried to cross over the barbed wire. She wasn’t that lucky or that stupid to even attempt such a stunt. Somehow Reyes had succeeded so at least now she wouldn’t feel bad for hitting him upside the head after sending an angry little Hotpants over the fence at her. Holly stayed on the fence until Reyes called off Hotpants. The pig didn’t look thrilled to be called off but that was the pig’s problem. And now that she was called off Holly finally felt that it was safe to clamber off the fence. There was a good reason she had shifted and simply flown over the fence, she really couldn’t climb for the life of her. She would have probably been as slow as Reyes if she had tried. “Sorry, Hotpants get really overzealous and… And…” Overzealous was an understatement, if that pig had the chance and the capacity it would have killed her. Holly pointed at the pig while saying, ”Uh, yeah, I noticed. Does she do that to everyone?”
Holly looked down at Reyes, again. After being the tallest person of anyone she knew Holly had gotten used to having to look down at people and some more than others. It was unusual to actually find someone that she could stand eye to eye with someone and usually it was men. Girls just didn’t get to be of that height. But somehow Holly had. Both of her parents had been tall but she still would have towered over them if they were both alive. “You’re so tall!” Reyes had said with admiring eyes. No. Kidding. That seemed to be the fact of her life. Being at least a head taller than most anyone she met. ”Yeah I know, right? Story of my life. Tell me something I don’t know.” Holly said rolling her eyes. Why did everyone have to point that out or at the very least, notice it? She couldn’t go walking down the street without being gawked at. Holly tried to quickly make up for her sarcastic comment by saying, ”You’re pretty tall yourself, I mean not as tall as me, but taller than a lot of people.” At least he was only six inches smaller and not more than that. When it came to height difference Holly took what she could get as far as the difference, the smaller the difference the better because she felt somewhat normal if someone was closer to her own height.
For: Seyer ooc: Holly has a little bit of a height complex XD Yay one post to go.

”Uh, yeah, I noticed. Does she do that to everyone?” Holly asked, pointing a finger at the little pig sitting by his ankles. Hotpants made a high pitch growling noise that sounded like it was caught somewhere between a dog and a lawnmower. The white pig was clearly displeased at being called off her attack, even if the attack was a tad bit unwarranted. “Um… Yeah, almost everybody.” If ‘almost everybody’ included just about everybody, then yes, it was almost everybody. Hotpants definitely hated almost everybody that came even into vague contact or no contact at all. She even hated Aurelia who lived at the house, and Aras who was there a good amount of the time.
Her voice came off as sarcastic after he told her that she was really tall, but he didn’t notice at all. Reyes, being Reyes, had this tendency to throw out any information that it found distasteful. ”You’re pretty tall yourself, I mean not as tall as me, but taller than a lot of people.” Well, Reyes had thought that up till this point. Now that he’s seen Holly, he felt very insufficient all the sudden, as if he was laughably short. She had to be, bare minimum, six inches taller then he was.
“But but but…” He made that slightly pouty face he always did when he was trying to get a point across. Well, Reyes never meant it, but it happened anyways. And it was good for when Aurelia was trying to make a point to him, because one look at that face and she would let him explain. She would probably roll her eyes and walk away too, but at least he got his point across. “You’re at least 6 inches taller. How’d you grow that big?” His disappointed face quickly lit up to his one of unabashed admiration. He didn’t really care if Holly hated his guts just as much as Hotpants hated her’s, she was now officially his hero

”Um… yeah, almost everybody.” Reyes had said only before the pig let out a high pitched and earsplitting squeal once more. How could Holly have thought that thing was cute just a few minutes prior? Holly guessed he kept her because it was cute and was loyal, but if it tortured everybody who came within walking distance of Reyes, why keep it at all! Wasn’t it a little rude to keep a violent pig and torture your roommate and innocent bystanders? Holly was glad she didn’t keep pets; too much work and money were put into those rascally fur balls. ”Right. That’s…” Holly thought before she spoke and the only word that came to mind was, ”Nice,” since there weren’t that many positive words for a violent loud pig that attacked ‘almost everybody.’
Holly was used to having to look down at, well just about everyone. Her mom was the only one who really came close. She was six foot seven, but liked to wear high shoes and would be just as tall as Holly. Her dad was six foot ten, when he was alive. When anyone came into a six inch difference, Holly was very pleased. She wouldn’t have to feel like a giant all the time. Because most often, she did. She knew a lot of short people wanted to be taller, which was fine. They could grow or wear tall shoes, but Holly was tall. Holly hated that she couldn’t wear shoes to make her shorter and she wasn’t going to get shorter any time soon. It was sort of a reverse Napoleon Complex. When someone pointed out that she was tall if she didn’t like them or wasn’t at work she likely came back with ‘Yeah, and you’re stupid.’ Or something of that sort. Since Reyes was closer to her height she didn’t want to tick him off, but if continued gawking at her she wasn’t too far from smacking him. His pouty face and whining didn’t help his cause either.
The girl sighed. Was her height the most interesting thing around here? “You’re at least 6 inches taller. How’d you grow that big?” Reyes asked, his face lighting up like a child’s. ”I just grew this tall. I had tall parents.” Attempting to take the spotlight from her self Holly spotted a butterfly and pointed at it. ”Look at that!” She giggled. A monarch butterfly, pretty, graceful, happy and free. Holly always adored butterflies. ” Isn’t it pretty!”
For: Reyes~! ooc: Sorry this is overdue and crappy... X__x

”I just grew this tall. I had tall parents.” It was unfortunate to say that her answer was less then satisfying. Though genetics did play a part, it was still no guarantee. Reyes’ mother had been a mere five foot one, while his father was more or less five foot seven, maximum. Where Reyes got the genetics to tower over both of them and a good 99% of his other family members was beyond him. Actually, a whole lot seemed to be beyond him and his thinking capacity.
”Look at that!” Reyes was just about to say something when Holly shot a perfectly timed distraction at him. He whipped around in the general direction that Holly was pointing her finger at. What he was about to say or tell her immediately went flying out the window as he scanned the general area for whatever was really pretty that she just motioned at.
After a few minutes longer then absolutely necessary of searching for whatever she was pointing at, Reyes finally came across that little butterfly just flitting along in the breeze. Holly had pointed out the little orange and black thing, and as usual, Reyes got a tad too excited about it. “Oh my gosh, it’s a butterfly!” He was just a few octaves short of squealing. Hotpants, on the other hand, either perceived the butterfly as a bombing threat, or was just as excited. The little white pig went bolting after it and, once Reyes realized that Hotpants was no longer heeling, went after the animal too.
Hotpants was headed where the butterfly was headed, and that was towards the solar spears. Whether it would be a good idea or not was beyond him, but he didn’t normally think that far ahead anyways.
