While getting up, Kin moaned loudly. ”Not. Again.” She complained realizing she had woken up. She was happy that her dream had been just that—a dream but she was facing reality once again and sometimes horrible, gruesome, terrifying dreams were better than any kind of reality Kin dealt with. She rubbed her eyes trying to wake up and then looked at the clock. It read eleven in the morning. Kin cursed not meaning to have slept that late, but there had to be some consequence to hard partying all night long. Kin ran her fingers through her knotted hair trying to get it untangled but to no avail. Even though it was cut shorter—the black part to mid neck and the white bangs the same length. She shook her head trying to erase the dream from her head and realized it was time to get up and face the day that was shining through her window.
It took Kin a considerable amount of effort to actually pull herself from her bed and into the bathroom to shower. Kin didn’t have work today so she didn’t have to worry about going anywhere or doing anything. So she would have liked to stay in bed but knew she couldn’t. Kin stared at herself in the mirror for a long time trying to decipher all of what was hidden behind her face. Well, she was SEG and hunted down shape shifters, so did that make her evil? Perhaps it did, but she didn’t feel evil. Kin had captured and was behind throwing decent shape shifters behind bars just because he was what he was. But it was orders from work, she only did what she was told to do, maybe she was only partially evil. Because in fact, she was still with SEG even after all she had done and what the organization was responsible for. Kin also worked part time at spot Coffee to pay the bills. That wasn’t much though because she was a horrible employee who was infamous for pouring hot coffee on people’s laps when they pissed her off enough. She didn’t quite know what to think, her actions were mixed varying from cruel to innocent, helpful to hurtful. Her fingers went numb as she stroked her face, ”Who are you?” Kin asked to the reflection in the mirror while at the same time, the reflection perplexed her with the same question.
Giving up and avoiding looking at her reflection in anything, Kin went to go get dressed. She found a pair of black shorts with lace and decided to throw on a black and white striped tank top with it. She stared at the makeup on her dresser wondering how she was going to put it on without looking in the mirror. She thought about it for a second and decided she’d only put on stuff she wouldn’t could probably not need a mirror to apply. Dark eye shadow, mascara, bright red lipstick, Kin hoped it looked fine because she didn’t want to stare at herself in the mirror again and wasn’t going to check.
Kin opened her curtains and looked out toward the streets with her disconcerting problem in mind: Who was she? Was she evil because of her actions or were her actions good and was she evil? Completely and utterly frustrated Kin looked for something to throw and the first thing she found was a pillow sitting in the corner. Its soft thud did nothing to satisfy her rage but saw that a letter had been beneath it the whole time. Kin picked it up crinkling the paper in rage but knew what it was when she looked at it. A raid letter. From winter two seasons ago. She could remember the raids all too well, and none of those memories were good. But she had saved this letter, it confirmed her suspicions that Zach was a shifter. Or father Felix Fournier. Kin had all the chance sin the world to capture him, he even lived in the same apartment complex all she would have had to do was go to his apartment and drag him to SEG so long as he didn’t put up a big fight.
But the letter began a train of thought. The first time she saw a raid letter, she went on an immediate hunt with a plan in mind only because she had been ordered to. She had time to brood over her actions after receiving the letter with information on Zach. But in her first raid, Terian hadn’t seemed to be bothering anybody while living in Keis and enjoyed life. She then ripped his past life to shreds and was responsible for having him in a cell at that very moment. Sure he could be released under the rehabilitation program but it wouldn’t change his emotional scars over the event. After seeing the name of Felix Zacharie Fournier on the letter and a perfect description, Kin knew who it was and that he was a shifter. But there was something that told her that maybe that there was a remote chance that Felix didn’t belong in a cage just because he was a shifter despite the shifters past actions in the war.
After long deliberation, Kin folded up the letter and put it in her back pocket. She threw on a pair of peep toe lace up black wedge sandals and headed out of her house. She remembered exactly where his apartment was, and hoped no one else was home. With conflicted feeling varying from scared to excited to determined and hateful Kin found herself in front Felix’s apartment’s door. Kin took a deep breath before she knocked on the door and laid a fake smile on her face waiting for the blonde to answer the door.

Felix stumbled into his apartment, slightly drunk despite having been at work. Hey, he never could turn down a free drink, and one particular business man had taken a liking to the blond. No doubt the guy probably had a wife and kids and was simply curious about the tall french barman, but what the hell. Felix didn't care for all that. He got drinks, he amused the man and he neglected anyone who wasn't a hot woman. That was the way he rolled. Still, it wasn't doing himself any favors. The only reason he hadn't been fired yet was because Tess often did his job for him and was a perfect employee. Felix could only wonder what that was like for anyone who knew 'Zach' and not the twins. 'Zach' seemed to be a split personality guy, one day getting drunk and leering over women, taking them into the back, the next he was hard working and careful and defiantly not a drinker. Stupid perfect Tess. Tess had his vices too though; antisocial and a smoker. The opposite of his brother. Felix loved his stupid near perfect twin, but he was sometimes envious. People preferred the quieter one, usually. And Felix was the ugly twin. He wasn't muscular and slightly tanned. He was twin and fair skinned. Stupid, stupid perfect Tess.
He slammed the door behind him and loudly 'shushed' himself, giggling as he flopped down onto the sofa. Within seconds, he was deep asleep.
He was woken after what seemed to be only moments of blissful sleep, yet the sun was blaring. He blinked groggily and stood up. He was still wearing the plain shirt and jeans from the night before and his hair was spiked in all directions. Tess had cut his hair not long ago, and it hadn't grown back fully. He hated it, but it made him look much older and more mature. If he could be classed as mature at all. Stumbling to the door, he pulled it open, yawning, and struggled to focus upon the woman before him. He managed though, and with a tired grin, he mumbled; "Hey, Kin right?" He got it right; though he was unsure if he did or not. She'd probably be pissed if he called her by someone else's name. "You here for some fun? Cause I gotta' tell you, im freakin' knackered." His accent made his voice come out in an exotic, yet stupidly sounding blur of words. He lent on the door frame, rubbing his eyes.

Bleach probably wouldn’t be enough to clear Kin’s mind of her memories. Because when Zach answered the door, it felt like she was being hit by a wall. One thing led to another, a few bottles of vodka later and Kin was doing something she wouldn’t have done if it wasn’t for the alcohol. ”Hey, Kin right?” He said in the voice Kin would never be able to forget because of the accent. She looked at him like the Mona Lisa; she had sad eyes but a smile was still upon her face. I wouldn’t be hard to admit that she didn’t quite regret the night. But, bleach wouldn’t be enough to clear that memory from her mind, never not ever. There was no taking back the past, but Kin could be proactive about the future. ”Um yeah, Kin.” How many girls did he bring over to barely be able to remember names?
Right now, Felix’s fate was in Kin’s hands. She decided that she was going to give him one chance, one chance to tell her he was a shifter and be able to convince her not to lock him up. "You here for some fun? Cause I gotta' tell you, I’m freakin' knackered.” Kin struggled to keep her expression straight after that. "No, Zach, I’m not. It’s eleven in the morning; I prefer that kind of thing at eleven at night.” Kin said a little too harshly then put her hands on her hips. Maybe it could be better if she didn’t give him the chance at all. That would be easy, just say, I’m SEG, you’re a dirty shifter and I’m locking you up. But something kept her from actually doing so. A conscience perhaps, Kin hoped not, she’d gone long enough ignoring hers and having it bugging her from that point on would get on her nerves. Sure she had the little demons on her shoulders teasing her but at least they didn’t bug her about doing the right thing all the time. They called her out for her faults and usually went away with lethal amounts of liquor but still better than a good conscience nagging her when she was doing something wrong like capturing shape shifters and locking them up.
”Hey, mind if I come in, Felix?” Kin said taking a step forward and leaning on the door frame. She took a look at Zach figuring he was either hung over or drunk, which wasn’t much of a surprise, at least he was up in the first place. She noticed his hair was shorter, but didn’t think it mattered that much, after all, her hair was a lot shorter as well. The smell of liquor was thick on him and it was undeniable that he had been around the bar last night working. Or whatever he called serving drinks while flirting with whatever he liked. Did Felix even stand a chance?

He lent casually against the wall, running his fingers through his hair to try and rid it of most tangles. His attempts were mostly unsuccessful, but he didn't mind - he was focusing on Kin, not his appearance, despite hating the fact he looked like shit. Her comment was amusing and he grinned, though the way she said it made him want to take a step back. She seemed a little two harsh, contrasting the words she spoke that, from anyone else, would have come out more flirtatiously. But as she put her hands on her hips, he simply chuckled. She wanted to be the sort of bad-ass chick that took no shit? He couldn't take that act seriously; she had been the same last time before a few drinks. She was tame as hell in the morning.
She stepped forwards and lent against the frame of the door, asking to come in. Felix glanced at the clock. Ten; he had only around five hours sleep and was feeling it, but he didn't mind her coming in. Maybe it was important. Tess was out for his morning run probably, so why not? He wasn't around to scold him. So Felix smiled and nodded, stepping away from the door and moving towards the kitchen to get them both a drink - but as he got half way there, he froze and turned around slowly.
"What did you just call me?"
He had told her his name was Zach, right? Yes, he defiantly had - she called him that only moments ago, yet he was certain in her last sentence she had called him Felix. She couldn't know his name, surely? Maybe she had seen him with Jazlyn, or met his brother and found out. Maybe she was pissed because of his lie. That explained why she was there. Oh shit. "Look, I can explain. I tell everyone my name is Zach, not just you. Don't be insulted. I just really hate the name Felix. I mean, sounds like im a bloody house cat or something, right? My mother had an odd taste in baby names..." His voice drifted off and his heart sunk, staring at her. Something told him that wasn't the problem at all, and that he was lucky Tess wasn't around. "...What did you come for?"

Well Kin had slipped, but she was fine with it, because while Kin walked in after Felix nodded he didn’t seem to notice at all. Kin went to go sit on the couch when she saw Felix stop walking and turn around carefully. ”What did you just call me?” Guess he had caught it. Well, that only made her life the tiniest bit easier for the time being. Kin always wanted to know what people were thinking, what they were thinking of her, themselves, her actions. She would give a limb to be able to read minds. Kin smirked a little bit as the poor guy tried to explain. Kin’s smirk grew while he spoke until it turned into a full blown wicked grin. Oh man he was way off. Kin snickered a bit under her breath after he asked, ”…What did you come for?” Indeed. What had she come there for? Such a simple man. And Kin loved it; perhaps she could drag it out and make it a little more interesting.
If Kin was known for anything, it was that her mood could change on the turn of a dime. She walked up to Felix casually and pulled on a piece of his hair. ”I was going to make this a little more…theatrical, but I can’t wait!” Kin said while shrugging a giggling a tad. The hand twirling his hair moved down to his shoulder gingerly, the across his chest and finally came to the middle of his shirt. Kin gave a smile before her fingers curled around his shirt and made a fist putting him in her grip. When Kin spoke again her voice was barely a whisper and slightly cynical, ”I know what you are, shifter.” Kin wanted to wait for his reaction, watch him squirm and squeal for a while. Hell, it wasn’t her original plan, but this plan might be just as satisfying. When it came to Kin and shifters it never failed that some screw always came loose.

Felix stared, wide eyed, in Kins direction. What was going on? His heart was hammering inside his chest, willing the reason to simply be that; a pisses off girl who had found out her past lovers real name. If life was only so simple. She approached, and as she did his heart sped up. It was so loud in his ears, so loud he feared she could hear it. He tried to keep his expression cool and calm, yet he was afraid his heart would give him away. He told himself that was impossible, but as she approached, that fear increased. There was something about her; something that was not there when he met her. She didn't look naive anymore.
Her hand raised and he winced, but he felt no pain. She touched his hair, tugging at a strand before her palm slipped down to his chest before curling into a fist, a handful of his shirt entwined in her grasp. He swallowed and tried to slow his heart to no avail. She couldn't hear it, she simply couldn't. It was just paranoia. At first her words confused him and added to his doubts. Maybe she was just going to send her big scary brother in to beat him up for lying? But her words after that confirmed the worst. "I know what you are, shifter."
The urge to pull away, to leap out of the window and shift, fly away and get his brother and himself out of there, to flee, was intense. Her power was impalpable. How did she know? He didn't understand. He lived and worked as a human, he only shifted when he absolutely had to. Maybe the few times Raiden made him change had given him away; maybe the people from the ranch had remembered his face as he changed into a fox right in front of them. Shit. He was in trouble. No doubt she was armed. He would never be able to flee and avoid being shot. His best hope was that Tess was left out. Maybe they didn't know about his twin. He decided not to lie. If he was captured or killed, so be it, so long as he knew his brother was not harmed. It scared him, but the love he felt for his brother overran his fear. The sooner it was over, the more likely Tess would survive. "Kin...How? I'm not going to lie and say I'm human, nor will I fight. I don't do that. I swore humanity upon myself a long time ago. Just...Make it quick." He wasn't sure why he wasn't even going to fight, but he had been intimate with this woman, he had flirted and drank with her, and held her. He by no means loved anyone but his brother, but that didn't mean he didn't at least care for people. He was sentimental about people who trusted him and let him close, even only for a single night. Fighting seemed morally wrong to him. But she was, apparently, SEG or just a civilian who was going to report him. Shouldn't he try and fight? What if his neighbor and best friend Jazlyn got involved? Or what if Tess came home? And if he won, what would he do? He was once a violent person, in his teens, but that got his brother badly hurt. Never again, he had said. And he would stick to that. He looked into her eyes and smiled. A sad smile, the smile of someone who had given up. His eyes closed and he waited for the gunshot that would inevitably end his life. He could only hope she was kind enough to kill him instantly. He wasn't a fan of pain.

Kin had trusted Felix. Or perhaps it was Zach who she trusted. She gave herself to him, not so far as loving him and letting him take her heart, but had trusted him with herself nonetheless. Kin had always had the suspicion that Zach was a shifter, and had let it go and not investigated it further because she had trusted him. Trust, ha, Kin wasn’t going to be letting it out like that anymore, not after this. Kin was letting her past feelings get in the way, her feelings of being close to someone even if he had been just another at that point. But Kin knew she was the same to him but even so, that kind of connection was hard to break. But Kin would if she had to.
Despite being short and very feminine looking, Kin no doubt had power in her small structure. Though for most people, that was hidden away and unless they were a shifter, her true strength never came to the surface. And nothing brought on rage like shifters. There was reason she was in SEG, why even after she called it quits for a few years, that she came back. Shape shifter elimination group. The creatures needed to be eliminated or in cages for what they did. It was a like a prisoner serving time in jail. The shifters were the convicts and Kin was one of their prosecutors.
"Kin...How? I'm not going to lie and say I'm human, nor will I fight. I don't do that. I swore humanity upon myself a long time ago. Just...Make it quick." He had said and Kin burst out laughing. The laugh wasn’t quite humorous, rather it was full of sarcasm and spite. After Kin finally stopped she tugged on Felix’s shirt roughly but playfully. ”I’m SEG, that’s how! You stupid senseless idiot! I’m not here to kill you! Do you have any sense of self-preservation!” Kin yelled out loud. She knew Zach could be an idiot sometimes but he really was clueless. SEG was supposed to capture shifters despite the name of the organization. ”I mean, do you really want to die you dummy!” Kin said breaking out in laughter. This was turning out to be more entertaining than she first thought. Once again, the girl’s tone turned low and cynical, ”How much do you fear me right now?” She paired her words with a mocking smile while her hand not grabbing his shirt pulled on his hair again and giggled.

He was waiting, but not for long. Her laugh made him jump, it shocked him more than a bullet to the brain would have. Cautious, he opened one eye, his brown, gazing questionably at her. As she spoke the other opened two and he sighed. He was no way in hell telling her why death was a better option. Why it would potentially save his brother. f she knew, she would just hunt him too. She never met him, she didn't know. Yeah she knew about his cousin, but she was no shifter. She knew known by SEG anyway. Calista was probably one of the reasons SEG found out, actualy. Damn it.
He remained silent as she mocked him, hands limp by his sides as she watched her face. This was a different person to who he remembered. He had slept with an SEG. What a idiot. He should have known sleeping around with humans was a bad idea. "Dying is better than being stuck in a cage for the r est of my life, wouldn't you agree?" He mumbled. That was reason enough - it made sense. His fear was slowly sinking as he got used to the idea, but his heart was still frantic inside his chest. What would Tess do? And Jazlyn - would she care if he died? No chance, he just annoyed her, right? His heart hurt as he thought of the two of them. The only woman he came close to having feelings for, and the only thing he lived for. The rest didn't matter; Roi, Raiden, Koalk. They were his friends and he would miss them, but they would soon forget about him. They had their own lives. They didn't care about the blond. Few did.
He felt numb. She grabbed his hair, tugging it. His head moved with her sudden movement, sharply to one side. Yes, she feared her. But he feared for his brother more than himself. If he knew he was the only one destined to die this way, he could do so with happiness. He decided it best to spite her. He smiled. "Fear you? I fear your guns. You are just a child, looking for a thrill." His smile faded. "Do you find happiness doing this? Do you have a family? I don't think you do. You're probably lonely, right?" He had no idea if that was true, but it as worth a shot. If he could maybe make her angry, she would get it over with, or maybe, just maybe, she would forgive him. But the chances were slim. His best bet was the gun to the face.

"Dying is better than being stuck in a cage for the rest of my life, wouldn't you agree?" If Kin had ever thought of it, she’d still say that living in a cage was better. What good was death? Kin had tried committing suicide a few times but one thing always stopped her: the realization of knowing that everything was going to be over and you wouldn’t have any clue of what went on after you died. Kin didn’t believe in heaven of hell, only simply that angels and demons were present among the living. So why choose death? Why not choose to be in a cage and hope to be released or break out. ”No, I would say a cage, but I’m not in your situation and I never will be.” Kin said adding emphasis on the last three words. Feel shameful shifter, feel shame!
Though Kin had gotten over the fact that she had slept with a shifter, she hoped Felix was getting used to the fact that he had slept with SEG: the enemy of his race. And wouldn’t it be harder to accept that you had been intimate with someone who wanted you dead because of what you were? Kin was on top this time and she would always be on top as long as she was a human and SEG and when she was against shifters. It didn’t occur to Kin all the things the shifters would lose after they were captured, and frankly, she didn’t care. Their loved ones would worry, but they were shifters too, their friends would be sad, but who’s to say they wouldn’t be happy that it hadn’t been them who was captured. If Kin was going to do anything, it would be to capture him and not kill him; a fact the she guessed Felix wasn’t going to get unless she spelled it out to him. Kin wrapped her finger’s around Felix’s blonde locks and tightened her grip.
The most upsetting thing about Kin’s ‘visit’ was that Felix wasn’t fighting back. He simply looked at her with sad eyes. But little did she knew, he was to fight back with words. "Fear you? I fear your guns. You are just a child, looking for a thrill." Kin’s smirk turned into a nasty grimace and her fingers twisted the hair in the shifter’s head. He still continued. "Do you find happiness doing this? Do you have a family? I don't think you do. You're probably lonely, right?" Kin let out a staccato malicious growl. Her features turned angry and her fists subconsciously grew tighter. Felix had read her like a book. Kin wondered if she really wore her heart on her sleeve enough for him to be able to read her like that. ”How! I do find happiness in this for your information, it gives me purpose in life, to see your kind in cages. And I left my family years ago to come here. And you could bet your pretty little head I’m lonely, which makes it all the less hard to get rid of you” Kin spat out. They were all the same, why was she even giving him the chance?

Sleeping with an SEG was always something he had feared. He remembered the day he met Roi, when he saw the SEG angents in the corner, seeing their ID badges as he waited upon them - back then, he had panicked. Roi had been the only thing that kept them noticing, he took the blond and calmed him down. It was thanks to the older guy that he was still alive, probably, or else he would have given himself away sooner. He never was a good liar, and SEG scared the shit out of him - which was why he felt so odd standing before one, openly admitting he was a shape shifter. He was scared, but it felt right to do nothing - like it annoyed her more that he wasn't resisting, like she had the option to kill him but was holding back. Maybe, just maybe, she didn't want Felix dead. Maybe she wwanted him tormented more in a cage, or perhaps she held slightly softer emotions for him. He remembered how shy she had been the next day, compared to his ease. Nervous of Calista, ashamed, at first. But cute. Beautiful, actualy. He gazed down at her, her hand tightening in his hair. He remembered her stroking his hair, then kissing him. Not many one night stands did that, but she had. She didn't rush away. He smiled at the thought; odd, since he was standing before his would be killer. Ironic, he always did say that beautiful woman would be the death of him.
His kind, huh? He didn't see much different between them, apart from morals, and the fact he had abilities humans couldn't dream of. Maybe it was jealousy, or greed - the vices of humanity. They were a sinful species. No doubt they left their own world because of their own stupidity. Maybe it was a dead world. Maybe it was filled with war and famine, or nothing at all. Maybe they killed their own kind out of spite for one another, and without anything to fight, they turned on the one species that accepted them into their homeland. What selfish, evil creatures they were, and yet he pretended he was one. He knew he should be ashamed; but if it ment survival, he allowed himself to be degraded to human status. His hand reached forwards and touched her cheek softly. "True happiness cannot be found in anothers pain, Kin. Cambrians never fell to the vices you humans did; we as a species were never perfect, but we did not start this war. You came to our home and we took you in, despite the risk to our lives. If we knew how ungrateful you would be, we would have sent you back to whatever planet you came from. You were probably only a child when you came; I was nine when the Goliath landed. My family did not fight; we hid. We were weak, yes, but we didn't die, nor did we kill. I grew up with humans, lived amongst you for so long I don't even know the culture I was born into. I practicaly am human, and yet you dare insult me by saying my kind? I didn't choose to be born this way, or to be born on a planet dictated by aliens. That was forced. You selfish humans would never understand the pain we felt. The fear of a child hearing about the humans, and that if I shifted, I would be murdered. Yet, I never hated your kind." His rant was finished and he sighed. His hand fell back to his side. If only she would get it over with, he as actualy growing tiresome. The fear of death was intense, and the anticipation made it worse. He tried not to show it, but he was sure she could feel his hammering heart under her hand, where she grasped his shirt. "You're a beautiful person, but you have a black heart. Its sad, really. You could have been so much more. You seemed so innocent back then..." He smiled, leaned forwards, and placed a light kiss upon her lips. He honestly didn't care if it just pissed her off. He just wanted her to remember her opinion of him; back when she thought he was a nice guy. Before she knew what he was.

His hand reached up, and Kin thought that finally, finally he was going to take a stand and fight back. But instead, his hand stopped at her check. It brought back memories of the day after. When Kin was in her ignorant bliss. Her purposeful ignorant bliss. But he began ranting. Kin listened to his words until she realized what he was saying. Kin could find happiness in other’s suffering as long as it was a shifter’s suffering. It was her job, her life her reason for living. Humans were different, yes, they were ever a species of war and hate who were born to dominate and the only way to survive was to bet out their competition. When humans came to Cambria the shifters were their competition and true to human nature, they set out to destroy them so the planet would be there. The soldiers joined SEG for whatever reason, money, pride, the loss of loved ones during the war. How could they ever understand? Kin didn’t care how hard it was for them with humans while they grew up and lived. Wasn’t it just as hard for the humans? Their kinds weren’t the same. Shifters had no idea of what humans were like and Kin was enraged that Felix would try to lecture her about it. Kin growled and started tearing up in rage. "Just shut the hell up!” Kin screamed at him after his hand had slipped from her cheek. ”I hate your kind and I always will!” Kin only hoped that he hadn’t felt the tears that had started running down her cheeks. Not only from hate but past feelings and realizing that he was right. But Kin wasn’t going to admit that her kind was evil and the humans were the ones in the wrong. Not yet.
The next words that came out of his mouth were not only just as disturbing but wounding. "You're a beautiful person, but you have a black heart. It’s sad, really. You could have been so much more. You seemed so innocent back then..." Kin was about to lash out until, in what seemed like slow motion, Kin saw him smile, lean forward and kiss her on the lips. Kin stood motionless for a few long moments in shock. Her knees collapsed under her, the kiss bringing back the tarnished memories of the feelings she had before that letter had been sent to her. Her lips quivered and tears began to pool in her eyes, this time, they weren’t as full of rage and hate as before. Regret perhaps? Kin didn’t know, she doubted she ever would figure it out either. ”Felix…” Kin whispered. The hand is his hair slipped. ”What kind of mind game are you playing!” She yelled completely outraged while sending her free hand out to slap his face.

He studied her face as he talked, watching a mixture of understanding and rage flash over her features. He didn't know if it was working, if he would be free or if she would kill him, but he would soon find out, right? She screamed at him, told him she hated Cambrians; but why? He wondered what they had done to hurt her. Many SEG were probably formed that way - through hate. Those rare few shifters who attacked humans instead of hidding ruined it for the rest of them. They gave Cambrians a bad name, and whatever had been done to make Kin this way must have been bad. Felix felt a stab of guilt, as if he had somehow caused that pain. But he knew that was impossible. He was weak. he couldn't fight back, no way could he hurt anyone that badly. Tears fell, touching his hand lightly before it fell to his side. His eyes filled with pity - it seemed odd that he was feeling bad for her, when he was the one in danger, but he wasnt the sort of person to hate so easily. She was doing her job and she probably had reason to hate his sort, even if this war made no sence to either species.
The kiss seemed to send her back, or at least shock her enough to stun her. She was still crying; he wanted to make it stop. That was one of his many weaknesses. He hated seeing pain. Maybe that was why he would rather die than fight for his life. He didn't want any pain to come to his attacker. He was a fool; but after seeing his brother near death because of his own violence in his teens, he refused to fight. That was the person he became. Alot of people hated him, or saw him as just another play boy, but he was deeper than that. He messed around to stop himself falling in love, for fear that love would make him forget about his beloved brother. He refused to fight in casue Tess was the one who hurt. All in all - he as really only trying to protect his own, damaged consience. Selfish, really.
Her hand fell from his hair as she whispered his name. It felt odd for her to call him that, but he didn't mind. It was a rare thing for someone to find out his first name, but he liked it - because when she said it, she sounded so sad. Sad enough to cry, and to stop her threats. His heart slowed. He was in the drivers seat, it seemed. He hated making a woman cry, but it would save them both, hopefully. She screamed at him again, but he was used to that by then. He wasn't really playing mind games; more like telling her the truth, the truth that had been kept from her throughout her human years. She was angry - but she was also weak. She seemed close to breaking - close to seeing that shifters were not evil. By no means even close. She lashed out but he didn't try to move. The slap forced his face to one side, and slowly he turned back to face her. His cheek stung from the force, but he didn't complain. "Im not trying to mess with your mind, Kin. Im just telling you what I know to be true. You could shut me up, you know. Kill me. You wanted too cage me before, but wouldn't silencing me be best? You would like to see me bleed, right? That's what makes you happy."

"I’m not trying to mess with your mind, Kin. I’m just telling you what I know to be true. You could shut me up, you know. Kill me. You wanted to cage me before, but wouldn't silencing me be best? You would like to see me bleed, right? That's what makes you happy."
Why! Why would he say such things! He had to have been playing mind games, on purpose nonetheless. Kin didn’t want to kill him but she did want him to shut the hell up. Kin did want him in a cage and because he was a shifter he deserved to die. But Kin couldn’t think of bringing herself to killing him. It would be like killing Terian, who had been living in Keis peacefully not hurting anything. Felix was just like him. Or was he? He didn’t react no matter what she did, pull his hair, slapped his face. Why wasn’t he reacting, that would give her fulfillment. Would seeing Felix on the floor dying and bleeding to death give Kin satisfaction? Kin’s immediate answer was, no. But she realized that she had said seeing shifters suffer and die made her happy only a few minutes ago. ”NO!” Kin screamed. She put her hands over her ears trying to block everything out. Her eyes squeezed shut in frustration but a few tears slipped out. She screamed bloody murder confused and frustrated.
Everything she knew and believed was proving to be false. When kin came to Cambria, the war had already started. She joined the military to fight for her own and given her heart and trust to other soldiers. All the one Kin was close to were killed by the shifters and Kin had never forgiven them. Even if some shifters weren’t directly responsible Kin always held them responsible, their whole race. But not all of them were evil. But it was their kind that was responsible for all the human’s deaths in the war. But humans were also responsible for shifter deaths as well and that wasn’t enough. They had to have all the shifters caged up. Who was innocent and who was evil? Kin had trained herself to think that it was the shifters who were the bad guys but her resolve was cracking, simply falling to pieces. Kin didn’t know what to think anymore. Kin could finally see what the humans were doing was wrong, caging the shifters just because they were different. But Kin was human and how could she ever betray her own species over something alien and evil. Were shifter’s really evil, though? Was it the humans who were at fault? She didn’t know what to do and her confusion and unsettledness came out as screams.
”Stop it! Stop! I know what you’re doing! Just stop!” Kin cried hysterically. Her face in the mirror popped into her head asking her who was she and Kin howled out in uncertainty once more.

She covered her ears and he frowned, confused. She was ignoring him? Still thought he was trying to mess with her mind, probably. Fact was, he was just trying to get it over and done with - get her away from his home as soon as possible so noone found out he had a twin. If Felix was written down as dead in SEG's books, they would stop looking for the bi-eyed blond, and Tess would be out of danger. Yet he was inadvertantly confusing the woman, her mind slowly changing yet reluctant to let go of her human nature - a nature that urged her to destroy. She screamed, her distress shocked him - so much so he felt bad for trying to provoke her. That was odd; but he wasn't cruel by nature. It was only right to feel bad for causing her inner turmoil. His arms wrapped about her shoulders as she cried out for him to stop talking and he hushed her quietly, as one would to make a child settle into sleep. "Shh, calm down, im here for you." Why he was trying to comfort the girl trying to lock him away he had no idea. He really was an idiot. He didn't care if she tried to get awa, he held her tightly against his chest, trying not to lean on her from exhaustion of working so late the night before - his hand absently stroked her hair as he tried to calm her down.
He held her for several minutes in silence, he didn't care if she fought. He held tight, his tall form not overly muscular, but large enough to bound her to him. When he was sure she wasn't going to scream again, he let go slowly, hesitantly, and held onto her shoulders. His eyes met hers and he smiled. "Looks like you really don't feel like killing me, huh? Tell me Kin, what do I look like to you?" He mused quietly. He looked human, he felt humanoid emotions - he bled, he cried, he laughed. They were the same, right then and there, the only different being their technology and highly advanced brains, and the shifters evolution that allowed them to change shape. It didn't mean they had different hearts or souls. They were so similar - and if the humans had let go of their greed and learnt from the past mistakes of Earth, they could have lived harmoniously. "I am human. Right now. My true form; well us Cambrians don't really have one. I like taking a fox form best, but thanks to humans, I can't really do that very often." He told her, rather casualy. Maybe he would seem realer, less like a monster, if he could talk freely about it. He wasnt sure - it might just make her angry. "Can I ask something?" He didn't await a response before he went and asked anyway; "What did you feel the morning after we...? Is that the only reason you didn't shoot me right away?" He already knew the answer as probably yes. If he hadn't been such a whore, he'd be dead already, right? That...was kind of fucked up, right there.

The one thing Kin noticed and felt while she argued with herself was him. Who else would be there to hold her while she screamed and cried like an upset child who just scraped their knee? Only, Kin’s problem was far more perplexing than that. It wasn’t just a scraped knee that Felix was trying to calm her down from. It made no sense to her; she had come to his apartment, threatened him and slapped him. Why would he do that while he was in such blatant danger? It couldn’t be that he was moral, could it? Kin had believed for the longest time that all shifters were evil. Yet, right then and there, a shifter was holding her because she was upset. He stroked her hair, to comfort her. It seemed so wrong; he seemed human, not something malevolent just because he was a shifter. If shifters were so wicked, then would one of them do this at all? Not all shifters were evil then, weren’t they?
Everything Kin knew and believed to be true was shattered to pieces.
With that realization Kin screamed as loud as she could into Felix’s chest. She sat there huddled against him for a few long moments. She threw a few punches at him, but knew he wasn’t going to react. After she slapped him, yelled at him, he did nothing to fight back. He wasn’t evil because he was a shifter, he was in fact, the entire opposite. He began releasing her from his hold, a hold that seemed to have helped Kin from falling apart. Kin wanted him to keep holding her like that. Despite the emotional overflow, it reminded her of that morning after. Felix held her shoulders still, and Kin settled for that. While he spoke Kin kept her head bowed, she didn’t want to look at him. She knew all too well. He looked ”human” and Kin didn’t want to face that. He was supposed to be malevolent and be able to change forms, be something else from a human entirely but in front of her now was a man. Even though he was a shifter, he was a living, breathing, fleshy, human.
His words mirrored what Kin was thinking almost exactly. And Kin felt something she didn’t recognize. A least not something she felt for shifters: pity. For the first time Kin realized what kind of fear shifter’s lived in, even though she had never been in their place herself. She could only sympathize with him, but she could not help but feel guilt for being partly responsible for it. Then Felix asked her something she did not expect, but he was right in part. She thought of herself clingy to be so attached to him after only one night, but Kin could not deny that what he was saying was right. Kin didn’t llift her head when she spoke. She only mumbled to the ground with a dejected tone. ”You’re half right. This winter I captured some shifter’s that seemed fairly innocent. I…I wanted to give you a chance because of that. I’m shallow and stupid and evil...” Kin couldn’t bear to say any more. She’d figured out what she was beneath her fair skin and she didn’t like it. Kin had been right all along, she was a human, she was SEG, she was evil, and Kin had denied herself the truth all that time.

Half right, huh? He looked down upon her, her hair shielding the rest of her face from view as she stared at the floor. To anyone else, she would look pathetic, like a rag doll being gingerly held upright by her strings, yet to Felix - she looked remorseful. Hope was beginning to replace his other feelings; maybe he had got through to her. She said she had caught others that seemed innocent - no doubt they probably were. He had met many of his kind who were just normal people trying to scrape by, unable to get real jobs for fear they would be suspected and caught, but living in almost poverty. That was much like Felix - one job between two brothers, trapped in a dingy apartment. Felix didn't mind the Lonely Fox - though the irony of the title did depress him. He was a fox but he was never really alone, not when he had Tess. But Kin? She couldn't fly away like he could, and she had no family to turn to after joining the SEG. Felix couldn't help but hate that organisation for that - not only hurting his kind, but ruining the lives of humans too out of greed and hatred. They seduced humans with riches and revenge for the few shifters who did wrong and enveloped them in their madness. Those became like Kin - not willing to accept the truth - that they were the murderers. They were evil; not the shape shifters.
Yet everyone could be forgiven. Felix touched her chin and slowly forced her to look at him. He kissed her forehead gently. "You're a good person, underneath it all. Better than me. Im a coward, but you fight for what you believe in. Thing is; what you believed in was a lie. Please, spare me just this once? I'll beg if I must - but I have a family to support." She probably remembered Calista, even though she had moved out and back to her parents a while back. She didn't know about Tess. He was still reluctant to give his existence away. He kept it silent, for now. "Oh and, chances are most of the shifters you caught or killed were just like me. There are much more evil humans, in this world. Rapists, kidnappers, murderers; do something useful with your life and join the police force or something." He was rambling a little, but it made sense to him. So many evil humans got away with crimes because humans put more effort into catching his kind. It seemed pointless and wrong. Heck; he could bet big money that some of the 'shifter murderers' were actually shifters who only killed bad humans to rid the world of them. It was a crazy world, it made no sense.
Felix pulled her into a quick hug again before he let go of her entirely. "Would you like me to make you a coffee? Bet you wish you had just ignored me, huh?" He laughed a little, but it was forced. Laughing just felt wrong with such a confused person standing before him. Unsure of what to do, he hovered on the spot, watching her carefully. Quietly he wondered what she was going to do - ignore him, maybe shoot him? Agree with him? Go home and commit bloody suicide for all the murders she had probably committed thinking herself righteous? He hoped the latter was not true. The thought worried him. "Kin...?" He murmured. "You are going to be okay.... Arn't you?"

E-V-I-L.
Was that what she had been all along? She felt more confused and pathetic more than anything t the moment, regret and guilt was poisoning her from the inside. She tried to breathe in but it felt as if all the oxygen had been sucked form the air. It was like she was suffocating from the emotions around her. She kept her head bowed, her hands balled into fists on the carpet. What was she going to do now? She had realized what SEG did was wrong but she had nothing else to do, nowhere else to go. If she left SEG, she would be all alone again. Kin would be without purpose once more, without a meaningful life. Rosewood had asked not to long ago what she would do if SEG never came to existence, a doctor, Kin knew. Use her education. But, Kin was a human, a species that was subject to violence, something that was in her DNA and at this point, it was burned into brain. To fight back, to hate shifters, it was in her blood. But, Kin was facing the fact that it was all the wrong thing to be doing. Kin shook in her misunderstanding.
Lost, Kin had forgotten that she was not alone. The next thing she knew—while she was trying to sort through her muddled thoughts—was him again. He forced her chin up with his hand though Kin didn’t want to look at him. Kin was so pathetic. Felix kissed her forehead and the girl shook. Another hit to her past thoughts. He tried to convince her she wasn’t what she thought she was, but Kin wasn’t sure what to have faith in anymore. One thing stuck out at her though, he had said something about family. But, what did he have? Other than Cali who was eerily missing, didn’t he live alone? She would let it slip until later. She didn’t want to have to sort out another thing on top of her already heavy load. Kin didn’t pay attention to the rest of his ramblings, at least not much. Kin was too lost to think about it.Not being SEg anymore? Could her life be uprooted more?
When Felix pulled her into a fast hug, Kin was completely stiff. What could be done? Suicide came to mind, to rid herself from the world, but that would help nothing, what if there was an afterlife, how could she live with herself. She knew he was talking to her, but Kin didn’t respond. Her throat was closed up, disabling her from speaking. She heard her name and tried to focus. It was becoming increasingly difficult. Just like Felix’s mention of family, kin picked out the word okay. And if there was one thing that was Kin’s exact opposite, okay was just it. Kin stood motionless for a second, figuring out how she was going to pick herself up off the floor. She felt broken. How could she recover? Slowly, and ever so carefully, Kin picked herself off the floor, she found herself standing but gripping the wall for dear life. "I don’t know.” She finally managed to cough out. Where was she going to go now? She didn’t want to betray her own, but humans were cause of fear and woe of the shifters. A tear fell down her check. The girl looked at Felix with gloomy eyes and came back to him. She grabbed his shirt in desperation and then fell to her knees. ”Tell me what I’m supposed to do now!” She said starting to cry. So pathetic. Asking a shifter she knew for one night and that had broken her down what she was supposed to do next because she couldn’t figure it out herself. Simply, downright pathetic.

Felix watched the woman, her confusion so obvious to him. He knelt besides her, quietly studying her. He really was useless in this sort of situation - but then again, who would be good at handling it? An SEG had came with the intention to arrest him, and was now crouched on his carpet like a child sulking over a broken toy. No, that was the wrong way to put it. Not a broken toy; a broken belief. It was like telling the child Santa Claus wasn't real - only, Felix didn't know of such human traditions. Slowly, she picked herself up, and he raised to his feet as she did, arms tensed, almost expecting her to fall back down. She looked so fragile, so innocent. It was weird to imagine her as a killer - to think he had been afraid of her only minutes ago.
She clung to his shirt, hands bundled into fists against his chest. "Tell me what im supposed to do!" Her eyes were wide - he simply stared back down at her - what could he say? She fell to her knees, her desperation so intense he could feel the guilt tugging away at his consience - he had done that to her. Yet did she feel anything? Any sense of regret for the shifters she killed and whos lives she destroyed? Felix knew he shouldn't feel anything for her. She was evil - or had been. Perhaps this was her salvation, maybe he will have rid the world of another killer. But that did not ease his guilt. "I don't know." He whispered, looking down upon her. "I honestly have no idea. Its your life, Kin. Not mine. Either turn around and think things over, or arrest me now and forge I ever said anything. Its your choice." What else could he say? He couldn't tell her what to do, or tell her she had to leave SEG. It wasn't his place and he was not a manipulative person. She just had to figure things out on her own.

Kin didn’t know why she was expecting an actual answer from him. Why would her give her the solutions? Things like Kin’s situation weren’t easy as that, and with things as screwed up as they were, it was blatantly stupid to think she could get the answers from a shape shifter. Looking up at him and listening to his reply, Kin knew that it was fruitless to stay. Kin’s life was her own choice, hers and hers alone to decide what she was going to do with it. Some part of the girl was happy about it; another piece was mentally beating her up over it. Kin let out a short yelp of frustration before letting go if Felix’s shirt and standing up. This time she didn’t feel as broken and more so empowered. It was lucky for both of them she had forgotten to take a gun or any sort of weapon with her on her way to his apartment. If she had someone would be shot or stabbed by then out of the girl’s frustration.
If anything, the whole scheme didn’t go as planned, Kin was kind of pissed about it but the past couldn’t be changed. Thinking of that she felt nauseous thinking about the past. Especially after Felix’s speech, the guilt of shifter’s murder was awful. Worse than awful in fact. But she’d have to keep going, keep walking, and keep living. No matter her past mistakes, Kin hoped she could make it up. But she was worried about how she was going to do it. This was going to be a long road. Betray her own race or keep on the same violent destructive path. It didn’t seem like there was a middle ground. Kin had to decide, one or the other.
Still in front of Felix Kin decided to bid her farewell. “I don’t know whether to say thank you or I’ll be back with a gun in a few minutes. But this isn’t the end. It never will be. I will always hate you for what you are.” Kin stopped to gently run her fingers through his tangled hair. She grabbed it and pulled him closer so she could quickly steal a kiss on his lips. “But I love you for setting me on the right path, whatever it may be. Goodbye, Felix Zacharie Fournier, I promise you this is not the last time you will see me.” She kept her tone smooth and plain, to let him decide what to make of her words, because the fact was Kin didn’t even know what she meant herself. She headed out the door and back from where she came. Time to make a choice, and oh shit, Kin was not looking forward to it.
If there was a thin line between love and hate, Kin was dancing on it.
